IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration, with over 3 million tests taken in the last year.

It is available in two versions:
Academic: For students pursuing higher education in overseas destinations.
General: For those migrating for Immigration (Permanent Residency)
However, all candidates do the same Listening and Speaking sections for Academic and General Versions.
IELTS is a paper-based exam where each section and the overall score is given out of 9 bands.

IELTS has four sections:

Listening

4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes (Plus 10 min transfer time).

Reading

Different for Academic or General Training – 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes.

Speaking

Personal Interview 11-14 minutes

Writing

Academic or General Training - 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes.

The test total time is: 2 hours and 55 minutes. Listening, Reading and Writing are completed in one sitting. The Speaking test may be taken on the same day or up to seven days before or after the other tests.
